Welcome to Doug's Castle!
=========================

Doug's Castle is one of the only add-on's for Ultima 6 in existence!!
It features 2 new castles, a hoard of 6.5 million gold coins, excessive
architecture and among other things, the ruins of the National Bank of Jhelom.

Naturally this comes entirely without any warranty so you use it at your own
risk, and if it screws up your Ultima 6 for good, too bad.

Also, various words such as 'Ultima' and 'Avatar' are trademarks of Origin Inc.

Installation
============

You have two options.

1.	Automatic installation.

Unzip the files, WITH pkunzip -d (or you'll have to clean up the mess)
Each time you want to play Ultima 6, run U6MGR, and choose between
DOUG the Eagle and your other game(s).

2.	Manual, duplicate installation. Use this ONLY if U6MGR fails!!

	Make a directory called \DOUG
Copy your entire Ultima 6 directory to \DOUG.
	Now delete the SAVEGAME subdirectory.
Unzip the files USING pkunzip -d (or else)
Now rename the new DOUG_INC subdirectory to SAVEGAME
	Copy the files SAVEGAME\MAP SAVEGAME\CHUNKS and SAVEGAME\BOOK.DAT
to the \DOUG directory, overwriting the existing files.

This is recommended only if U6MGR fails. Please email me if it does!!

The Story
=========

Five years ago
--------------

Doug the Eagle's remote arrives in Britannia, where he sets about the
task of creating by transmutation enough gold to buy the entire world.

The plan backfires, as the fabric of the local universe is upset by the
sudden, gigantic increase in mass, damaging the Ether and destroying the
Gargoyle cities. The bulk of the money collapses in on itself and is
destroyed. Doug decides to set up a chain of banks around the world in which
to store what money he managed to save, around 6.5 million gold coins.

Lord British discovers the plan and Doug is forced to flee with the banks only
half-constructed. Hastily dragging the money from town to town he
inadvertantly wipes out regions of Britain, Moonglow and several other areas
before finally stashing the remaining millions in the Altar of Singularity
before the remote is captured and sacrificed by the Gargoyle people.

Present Day
-----------

Back at base, Doug the Eagle sends a second remote unit in the guise of the
Avatar, and is instructed by Lord British to destroy the Gargoyles.

Shamino is put in charge of the party food supplies.
Following extensive research, Shamino decides that butter is the perfect food,
being cheap to obtain and very easy to carry.

Fed exclusively on butter for two months, the remaining party is left unable
to defeat the Gargoyles.
Lord British's wrath is terrible and the Avatar is deposed, leaving Lord
British to assume personal command of the Quest.
The butter ordeal damages the Avatar's biological control centre and it
breaks free from Doug's control believing itself to be the True Avatar.

After a Glass Sword on the head by the Avatar, Lord British forgets all about
the Gargoyles and decides to find out what Doug was doing all this time.
Rumours that he is attempting to reinstate the National Bank of Jhelom cannot
be confirmed or denied, but something very odd has happened to Dagger Isle...

Notes
=====

Dagger Isle is Gate Travel #1

There ARE keys to ALL the doors (I've checked!), but they may be hard to
recognise as being keys!

The party consists of the following:

	1.	Lord British
	2.	Iolo
	3.	Bodskin the Thug
	4.	'Money'
	5.	Sutek the Mad
	6.	Shamino
	7.	Kador the Dog
	8.	Psycho
	9.	The fake Avatar

The Drawbridge control resembles a Magically-Locked door.
Press the glowing button and it will come down.
(Casting Ex Por has no effect.)

three dots below it.

The key to the Skiff Farm is the unmarked key in Avatar's backpack.

The Vault.
First key is Sutek's ring.
Second key is Kador's ring.
Third key is the Avatar's Ankh amulet.
Use the lever Avatar is carrying to open the fourth door.
